DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. Nestled on Cedar Street in Dobbs Ferry, Bangkok Beads is a rainbow of colorful jewelry and exotic charms, all expertly selected by owner Jenny Ross.
An entire wall is lined with rows of beads in nearly every color imaginable, while delicate glass flower charms hang on tables scattered throughout the tiny store.
Its the perfect place for people looking to have fun and make new things, said Ross.
She spent more than 10 years traveling the country, selling jewelry at trade shows before opening Bangkok Beads last year. Business has been picking up as more residents become aware of the store, Ross said.
In addition to selling beads, jewelry, chains and clasps, the shop hosts jewelry-making parties for all ages. No matter how young or old, people love to create a piece of jewelry, said Ross, who explained that the shop has hosted everything from childrens birthdays to bachelorette parties.
When people look in from outside, the colors really draw them in, Ross said. And the price is very reasonable.
The shop has something for all budgets, with everything from $1 pieces to Swarovski crystal pieces; sterling silver pieces imported from northern Thailand are some of the store's top sellers, Ross said.
Eventually the store will offer a complete line of jewelry for sale, as well as an expanded schedule of jewelry-making classes, she said.
Bangkok Beads is open from 11 a.m. 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and noon 5 p.m. on Sunday.
