HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. Hastings' eco-friendly clothing and vintage toy shop, Chelseas, will move from its Warburton Avenue spot to Main Street in September.
Lisa Globenfelt, owner of Chelseas, which has been on Warburton Avenue for the past 10 years, decided to make the move to expand the store.
My dream was to always have my own building, said Globenfelt, who purchased the building at 2 Main St. I wanted to control my own location as far as constructing without any limitations.
Its definitely a prime real estate space, said Chloe Zaharko, a sales associate and daughter of Globenfelt. The store will get a lot more exposure.
Globenfelt wanted to start clean in the new location, which was formerly a shoe store. The entire store, which will be a third larger than its original location, has been renovated to capture the flavor of an old dry goods store.
Shoppers should expect some additions to the Main Street location, such as two dressing rooms, classic childrens toys and a new home department.
I want to incorporate eco-friendly vintage home goods, Globenfelt said.
Popular womens clothing brands such as Flax, Cut Loose, Comfy and Iridium will remain at the Main Street location.
The Warburton Avenue location will continue its moving sale until the end of the month.
Its kept us busy in a not so busy time of year, Globenfelt said.
The best way to describe the store? Its an Anthropologie on the Hudson, said Globenfelt, referring to the popular chain store. Someone can walk out with a treasure.
