MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - Jordan DeJong and his friend Sean Jones run a small booth at the Dobbs Ferry Farmers Market each Friday where the Mount Kisco friends deal a mix of entrepreneurship and good will.

DeJong, who has suffered a form of epilepsy since childhood, is the founder and president of "Hope Soap," a business that produces all-vegan artisan soaps that contributes part of its proceeds to Finding A Cure For Epilepsy and Seizures (FACES). "I'm building a business with products that we believe are a good alternative to other soaps," DeJong said. "We make all the soaps and sell at markets and other venues. And part of our profits go to helping FACES. Because I have epilepsy and experience seizures, I know its a good cause." DeJong, who graduated Fox Lane High School in Bedford, started the business eight months ago and hopes to build "Hope Soap" by developing natural and organic products to add to the soap line. Jones is currently studying marketing at St. John's University in Queens and helps his old schoolmate sell the product. "I enjoy the aspect of being out in the community and selling the products," Jones said. "We get a great reaction from people who buy the soaps and come back again." DeJong is in Dobbs Ferry on Fridays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and will be in Hastings Farmers Market starting next month. DeJong's business cards introduce his products and offer his mission statement. "The reason why I call my soap 'Hope Soap" is because that one day there will a cure for Epilepsy," DeJong said. "People really like the product and they say it's the best soap they ever tired. I want to contribute because I have Epilepsy and I feel my actions can help others." Those interested in DeJong's "Hope Soaps" can reach him at 914-310-5974 or visit his booth at the Dobbs Ferry Farmers Market.
