HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — Elizabeth Farid's Hastings Yoga studio opens its doors to the Rivertowns communities Saturday with free introductory classes.
Farid, who was born in New York City, raised in Texas and returned home to live in Manhattan, has found a space at 45 Main St. where her yoga center will focus on a mind-body wellness experience.
"We're not centered only on the physical aspects of yoga, but with teaching the meditative, spiritual and other health aspects," she said. "We have a great staff of teachers and will have ballet, nutrition classes and meditation as well as all levels of yoga."
Farid and her staff will teach principles of stress and pain relief, better breathing, flexibility, weight management, increased strength, cardiovascular conditioning and improved circulation. Classes are held at slower pace with longer-held poses that explore healthy alignment to more vigorous, athletic flowing styles.
"We encourage people to find options that inspire, challenge and feel good," she said.
Hastings Yoga's classes include Teen Ballet, Adult Ballet, Prenatal, Mom and Me, Early Morning Practice and Meditation.
Mila Goulet, Cass Ghiorse, Amanda Kupillas, Mary-Ann Mastrwani, Jennifer Vagios, Ann Woods, Celine Suarez, Allison Schubert and Joseph Mauricio comprise the staff of dance instructors, certified yoga, health and wellness and nutrition teachers.
