McDonald’s Franchisees Show Frustration By Failed Efforts To Increase Sales

WESTECHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- McDonald’s Corp. franchisees are becoming pessimistic about the fast-food company's efforts to bolster sales and rebuild its sagging image, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Respondents to a quarterly survey of franchisees by Janney Capital Markets analyst Mark Kalinowski described the forecast for business for the next six months as poor or fair, the report said. Some respondents complained about chief executive Steve Easterbrook’s efforts to revamp the fast-food chain, including a plan to raise wages at company-operated stores, according to the report.

“Corporate has betrayed us,” the Janney report quoted one franchisee as saying. “We are on our own.”
