Rivertowns’ Zuckerberg, Shaw Named To Forbes 400

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON – Two people with Rivertowns connections were named in the list of the 400 richest Americans released by Forbes Thusday. Dobbs Ferry native and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg ranked 36th and hedge funder David Shaw, who is building a home in Hastings came in at 142.

Zuckerberg, who now lives in Palo Alto, CA, grew up in Dobbs Ferry before making a reported net worth of $9.4 billion founding the social media website. Zuckerberg famously dropped out of Harvard University to focus on Facebook.

David Shaw made his estimated $2.9 billion net worth through hedge funds and is the founder of D.E. Shaw & Co. Shaw got his PhD from Stanford University and devotes most of his time now to D.E. Shaw Research, a laboratory he founded in 2002, Forbes said.  Shaw is currently building a home in Hastings reported to be worth $75 million.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates topped the list with an estimated net worth of $66 billion and was followed in second place by Warren Buffet with an estimated net worth of $46 billion.
