Ardsley Woman's Store Offers 20,000 Halloween Costumes

ARDSLEY, N.Y. – With Halloween only a few weeks away, many Rivertowns residents are starting to plan their costumes, and one Ardsley resident is making sure people from across the state have plenty of costumes to choose from.

Yon Zweibon is owner of Beyond Costume in Yonkers, the largest privately owned costume store in the New York area. The store recently acquired a collection of Broadway quality costumes from Creative Costume Company, bringing the total number of costumes in the store to more than 20,000.

“We are excited to branch out and attract New York City business to Westchester,” said Zweibon. “This means we can be a source for top theater, film and advertising professionals in New York City while continuing to offer our loyal customers in Westchester a full range of costumes for rent or purchase.”

The store offers a range of costume styles and prices, including pirates, super heroes, Cleopatra, movie characters, and can even make custom costumes, Zweibon said. Although business picks up during the Halloween season, the store stays busy year round providing costumes for television shows like "The View" and "The Late Show with David Letterman," and celebrities like Ivanka Trump and chef and talk-show host Rachael Ray. The store also provides costumes for plays in New York and Connecticut, said Zweibon.

The newly aquired collection from Creative Costume Company features several costumes that have appeared in television shows, movies and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, according to a news release from Beyond Costumes.

“We wanted to keep the collection together and find just the right home for it,” said Linda Carcaci, who formerly co-owned Creative Costume. “Yon understands the value of these pieces, and she has built the stock and type of business that will go well with ours.”

The store rents and sells costumes, offering customers a range of options and caters to both professionals and people looking for a one-time costume, Zweibon said.

“We are here to please people, to really carry out peoples fantasies,” said Zweibon. “If you want to be different, if you want to be a little special, we are the place to go.”
