Tractor-trailer tips, ties up traffic on 287

UPDATE: A tractor-trailer driver sustained minor injuries but area traffic was backed up well past dark after a tractor-trailer loaded with spools of copper wire tipped on Route 287 at the New York state line flyover in Mahwah yesterday.

Mahwah police, firefighters and EMS workers responded to the crash around 5:30 p.m. outside the Sheraton Crossroads.

One responder estimated the truck had 17 tons of copper wire that was off-loaded to a flatbed trailer.

Mahwah Engine Tanker 425 and Engine 222 arrived simultaneously and found a minor fuel leak. Crews applied speedy dry to the fuel.
