Wilton Woman Charged With Stealing Social Security Benefits From Her Kids

WILTON, Conn. -- A Wilton woman has been arrested and charged with stealing more than $50,000 in Social Security benefits from her children, according to the Wilton Police Department.

Jane Powell, 56, was arrested after a joint investigation by the Wilton Police Department and the Social Security Administration found she had taken the money from her minor children, Wilton police said.

Powell, who was charged with two counts of first-degree larceny and two counts of first-degree forgery, was arraigned at Norwalk Superior Court.
