MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Northern Westchester Hospital is partnering with Dobbs Ferry-based The Cookery to offer some of the area's best dishes for a good cause in the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraising Dinner, which will be held on Monday, Dec. 5.

Guests can join Dr. Anthony Cahan, NWH’s chief of breast surgical services, and David DiBari, owner of The Cookery and a Culinary Institute of America graduate, for dinner and an auction. All proceeds support a shared mission to raise breast cancer awareness and help fund breast imaging services for community women in need.

The evening will feature a four-course meal from DiBari, who has been reviewed by the New York Times and appeared on CBS News, the Food Network, The Cooking Channel and Vogue.com.

His culinary inspiration for the evening is “I am Warrior,” a photo book created by local artist and breast cancer survivor, Shirin Tinati. The book comforts, empowers and supports women with breast cancer by showcasing the warrior-like strength of a woman shortly after diagnosis, during chemotherapy, and while undergoing radiation treatment. “This book is reality," says Tinati. “I wrote this book while I was going through treatment. I feel the perfect way to celebrate women going through the battle is by depicting them as warriors. Their strength is beautiful.”

Tinati will will auction off a photo shoot that evening, as well as signed copies of her book. The silent auction will also feature local restaurant and food-related gift baskets and certificates, a Vermont ski vacation rental, personal training packages, jewelry and more.

NWH is a designated Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology for providing high-quality comprehensive care with a multidisciplinary approach to breast cancer treatment and breast health. As a not-for-profit hospital, NWH provides community benefits and outreach to the community’s most at-risk patients. This event will benefit The Women’s Imaging Center at NWH and help uninsured or underinsured patients in the community receive breast health services and screenings.

The dinner will be held on Monday, Dec. 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Cookery, located at 39 Chestnut St. in Dobbs Ferry. Tickets are $185 per person. For tickets, register online at Northern Westchester Hospital's website. For more information, contact Laura Capicotto at 914-584-5414 or lcapicotto@yahoo.com.
