DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- Curious On Hudson will be hosting a three-session summer workshop with author Kirsten Bakis for fiction writers that focuses on writer's block.

Three sessions will meet from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Wednesdays, July 23, July 30 and Aug. 6.

Eclectic sources and exercises will be used to ease writer's block. Short readings will range from literary fiction writer George Saunders to screenwriting guru Viki King; in-class exercises will help participants dive into writing.

Bakis is the author of "Lives of the Monster Dogs," a New York Times Notable Book of the Year in 1997. She has been awarded the Bram Stoker Award for First Novel and was shortlisted for Britain's prestigious Orange Prize.

She has taught at Hampshire and Skidmore Colleges; in summer programs at Skidmore, Wesleyan University and the Summer Literary Seminars in St. Petersburg, Russia; and she is a member of the resident faculty at the Yale University Summer Writers' Conference.

Cost for the program is $150. To register for the program, click here.
