“Caregivers face enormous responsibilities,” Astorino said. “It is demanding work, but certainly rewarding. I want all caregivers to know that they are not alone in this journey and that the county has various programs and events such as these to help support them along the way.”
The Rev. Viviana DeCohen, a hands-on expert in caregiving who has worked in various areas of health, home care and senior services for more than 20 years, will be the guest speaker.
Participants can also:
- Experience Westchester’s new and innovative Telehealth Intervention Programs for Seniors, or TIPS. Seniors can have their vitals – blood pressure, pulse, blood oxygen level and weight – monitored and then receive a comprehensive needs assessment to see if they could benefit from any social services, such as nutrition, transportation or housing.
- Learn about a new technology application to help caregivers reduce stress.
- Learn about two nationally recognized county initiatives: the Livable Communities Caregiver Coaching Program and the Livable Communities Care Circles of Westchester: Step Forward and Give Back program.
- Get free, 15-minute pro bono consultations with elder law attorneys and care specialists.
