Memorial Day Parades Highlight Weekend In The Rivertowns

RIVERTOWNS, N.Y. - Hastings-on-Hudson, Ardsley and Dobbs Ferry will honor America's fallen heroes this weekend with Memorial Day parades and services in the three villages.

Hastings begins the trio of celebrations with its annual parade Sunday at 2 p.m. beginning on North Broadway then into the village along Main St. and Warburton Ave. Hastings Police have posted several street closures and restricted parking zones from Far Lane and Chauncey Lane at the Five Corners intersection of North Broadway down Main St. and on Warburton Ave. from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Ardsley will celebrate Memorial Day beginning with the Ardsley Fire Department's Veteran's Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at the firehouse at 505 Ashford Ave. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Park Avenue and head east on Ashford Avenue to Pascone Park where the ceremonies will take place. Dobbs Ferry's Memorial Day Parade will also be held at 10 a.m. Monday beginning at Ashford Ave. and Mohican Park Ave. 

The parade will stop in front of the Little White Church Cemetery then proceed down Storm and Maple Streets to the Dobbs Ferry High School for the traditional wreath ceremony. Following the wreath ceremony and presentation, the parade will reform to march down Ashford Avenue to Broadway to Cedar Street, stopping for a salute at the Zion Episcopal Church.  Then proceeding down Main Street to Chestnut into upper Memorial Park for the final wreath ceremony.

Following the ceremony, hot dogs and refreshments will be served by the Auxiliary at American Legion Post 1048 on Palisade Street.
