The Volunteer Center of United Way will honor nine individuals and groups at the dinner.  Broadcast journalist Lou Young will emcee the event, which begins at 8 a.m.

The Mercy College-Dobbs Ferry Rotaract Club is a service club of 18- to 21-year-old college students sponsored by Quad Village Rotary.  The group is dedicated to providing service to groups and individuals in need, and in the past year its student members have completed nearly 15 projects, representing a total of nearly 3,000 student-hours of service.

Club members also spent time each month providing mentoring, homework help and recreational activities at Rose Cottage at Children's Village as well as reading stories to young children on Reading Day at Leake & Watts in Yonkers.

Individual ticket prices for the 2014 Volunteer Spirit Awards are $75 per person ($150 for a Friend ticket, with journal recognition), and sponsorship packages and journal advertising rates are available.  All proceeds benefit The Volunteer Center’s work to promote volunteerism.

For further information about reservations or to place a congratulatory ad in the souvenir journal, contact Allison Chader at The Volunteer Center by phone at 227-9307, email allison@volunteer-center.org or visit www.volunteer-center.org/awards.
