Mercy College To Sponsor Health Tech Conference In Tarrytown

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- Mercy College will be sponsoring a two-day conference, Health Tech 2014: Fueling Innovation in Westchester, from Wednesday, May 7 through Thursday, May 8 at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Tarrytown.

The two-day conference will be geared towards technology entrepreneurs, biotech start-ups, investment bankers, venture capitalists, academics, health-care executives and real estate professionals in Westchester and beyond.

Here is a rundown of the conference:

Wednesday, May 7: 

Entrepreneurs’ Edge: A panel discussion with national experts in start-up law, banking, crowd funding and venture capital. Panelists will be available to meet with attendees afterwards.

Pitch to the Pros: Companies will present their “Big Idea” to a panel of judges. The winner will receive a $10K cash grant and a spot in the BLUEPRINT Accelerator Network -- which offers one year of rent-free private office space, complimentary professional service and access to financing and mentoring.

Thursday, May 8:

In-depth look at “IBM Watson and the Future of Medicine,” led by Watson Technologies Master Inventor William Murdock.

The keynote address will be given by Dr. Steven Safyer, chief executive officer of Montefiore Health System, the University Hospital and Academic Medical Center for Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The address will include news of breakthroughs from Regeneron, Profectus BioSciences, Histogenetics, and others, as well as discussions about technology transfer from lab to market and mobile apps.

The Westchester County Association and its economic development arm, The BLUEPRINT for Westchester, has organized the 2014 conference.
