Officers responded to Jimmy's Southside on Heights Road at around 3:41 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5 and met with an employee of a company that purchases used cooking oil from restaurants. The employee said that he had come to the rear of the restaurant to collect the cooking oil and found the lock to the container was cut, and the grease had been removed, police said.
The employee estimated that the value of the stolen oil was $600. He told officers that this was occurring at other clients' locations, and they suspected it was done in the early morning, according to police.
Police conducted a canvass of the area, with negative results. There are no suspects at this time and the investigation is continuing.
