Rappers and Yonkers natives Jadakiss and Styles P opened up the second of their line of juice bars, "Juice For Life," at 211 Nepperhan Ave on Tuesday, June 17, including a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony and city proclamation.

The juice bar, whose rough brick exterior belies its colorful interior, serves several smoothies and juice elixirs, custom-tailored to combat certain health problems. Their slogan: "Love is love."

The intersection of Elm Street and Nepperhan Avenue is overdue for some good news after a week violent incidents in the area, a small piece of a larger history of violence over the past few years.

"As you know, there's been a lot of activity here over the last week or so. We all know that. It's a harsh reality of what we deal with," said Mayor Mike Spano at the grand opening ceremony. "But, what's happened here, is that two big celebrities from our city, have come here to reinvest in our community."

Jason "Jadakiss" Phillips said one of the reasons he chose to put the bar at the intersection is to hopefully bring some of the violence to an end.

"We want to bring unity to the youth who are engaging in all of this nonsense," he said. "Here, you pretty much know everybody. As I said before, love is love is our slogan. We don't tolerate no violence. We're going to try to settle them down, give them a juice, and help them rectify whatever differences they're going through, because violence and juice don't go together."

David "Styles P," Styles said a healthy community begins with healthy lifestyles and children.

"It takes a village, they say, to raise a kid. So, it's up to all of us as a community to make sure we do that," he said.

"We're from here," Styles said. "We care about the town, we care about this place. This is the place that made us big."

Yonkers even has its own drink on the menu, in its namesake.
