Walk4Hearing Holds Kickoff Event for Hlaa

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — More than 100 volunteers, supporters and friends gathered recently for the kickoff event for the Hearing Loss Association of America’s (HLAA) 10th annual Westchester/Rockland Walk4Hearing at The Riverview.

“A vast majority of Americans with hearing loss do not receive the help they need,” said David Goldwasser Walk4Hearing hair . “Changing this is HLAA’s mission, why we have the Walk4Hearing and why we invite everyone, hearing and hearing-impaired, to walk with us," said Goldwasser.

WCBS-TV sports anchor Otis Livingston emceed the kickoff event and introduced the guest speakers. Christine Russo-Mayer AU.D.,CCC/A, NYS Audiologist and founder of CRM Audiology in White Plains, was honored with the Westchester HLAA 2015 Health Hero of the Year Award for her contributions to the local and medical communities.

The Westchester/Rockland Walk4Hearing raises funds and provides education about hearing loss. The walk will take place on May 16 in Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park in Yorktown Heights and follows a 5k (3.1 mile) route. Festivities include children's activities, giveaways, refreshments, prizes and more. Registration and festivities start at 10 a.m. and the walk begins at 11 a.m.
