HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Salt spreaders were on the streets and villagers began shoveling snow early Friday as winter storm Nemo arrived in the Rivertowns.

The National Weather Service predicted heavy snowfall and high winds through Saturday morning for the Westchester County area forcing schools in Dobbs Ferry, Hastings and Ardsley to close.

All after-school activities.in the three villages, as well as local recreation and village government events also were canceled for Friday and Saturday.
