WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Fathers can be hard to buy for, which is why going local is often best. You're not only doing good by supporting area businesses, you're treating dad to something unique to Westchester. What follows is a sampling of options. Feel free to add more ideas on our Facebook pages.

For the Movie-Goer: Three options, depending on what's most convenient for you: a membership to Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville where old classics, new hard to find releases, lectures and promotions are always on the docket. Or, check out the Pelham Picture House in Pelham where the motto is Life, Art, Popcorn and lots of interesting movies, speakers and events are on the calendar. Lastly, consider a gift card to Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers where you can sip beer and wine along with burgers and salads, combining a love of food with a love for the movies. Treat Dad: Jacob Burns Film Center, 405 Manville Rd, Pleasantville, (914) 773-7663, www.burnsfilmcenter.org/ ; Pelham Picture House, 175 Wolfs Ln, Pelham, (914) 738-7337, www.thepicturehouse.org/ ; Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, 2548 Central Park Ave, Yonkers, (914) 226-3082, www.drafthouse.com/theater/yonkers .

For the Liquor Aficionado: A bunch of local residents are brewing up interesting spirits, among them Neversinks Aged Apple Brandy made in Port Chester by Noah Braunstein and Yoni Rabino, friends from Mamaroneck High School. The brandy uses 100 percent New York State-grown ingredients and will have a booth at the Larchmont Farmer's Market Saturday, June 18. Another area creation: Good Shepherd Distillery in Mamaroneck created by Port Chester resident Vinny Miati. Here you'll find barrel-aged brandy and vodka, not to mention Miati's dog, Loki, for whom the distillery is named. Treat Dad: www.neversinkspirits.com/ or Good Shepherd, 360 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Mamaroneck (914) 341-1068, www.goodshepherddistillery.com/ .

For the Athlete: Dad into tennis? Or swimming? Pedigree Ski Shop in White Plains has clothing and other accessories in all kinds of price ranges. Dad more into biking? Check out Hickory & Tweed in Armonk where the knowledgeable sales staff can walk you through the many options. For the Foodie : Sign Dad for a cooking class with or have a personal chef come to you. Donna Douglass, owner of What’s Cooking for You , a personal chef service in Peekskill, does classes as well as personalized events. So, too does Chef Danielle Fragala-Harper, owner of Your Culinary Experience . For something really over the top -- hey, dad deserves the best -- have Chef Eric Gabrynowicz, a James Beard Awards Best Chef Northeast semifinalist talks you through a multi-course dinner at Market North in Armonk. For the Clotheshorse: Rothman's with locations in Manhattan and Scarsdale, has always been about catering to "regular guys." So explained Founder and Co-President Ken Giddon who lives in Larchmont and runs the family-owned business with his brother, Jim. To emphasize that point, the company ran a "Real Rothman's" campaign in 2015 featuring men from Scarsdale, New Rochelle and Larchmont. Treat Dad: 1 Boniface Cir, Scarsdale, (914) 428-5725, www.rothmansny.com/ .
