Courses and classes in gospel music, barbecuing, Latin, Instant Shakespeare and German are among the vast selection of programs that combine summer fun, education and the arts. “The goal of our summer programs is to create truly unique, social and educational opportunities to Westchester," Curious-on-Hudson Founder Adele Falco said. "We like to reduce the barriers to social and authentic learning opportunities for kids and adults by making our programs one-of-a-kind and inexpensive." The programs offered for kids include Engineering with Legos™ and marine engineering for kids ages 7 and up. A master course in marine engineering is offered for students 12-and-over seeking a challenges in science, math and technology activities. A class on cartooning is being taught by a professional and local cartoonist, Isabelle Bannerman of Hastings-on-Hudson. A mini-camp offers a Fashion and Design camp teaching students how to use a pattern and sewing machine and is being taught by a professionally trained local fashion designer, Joy Das, also of Hastings.
"These programs make use of our unique space in a former industrial building," Falco said. "The air is clean, the view is beautiful but you would otherwise think you were in Brooklyn – and that’s the way we like it to be.”
