Hastings Celebrates Holidays With Indoor Christmas Tree Lighting

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Residents and visitors moved indoors on a rainy Friday night in the Village of Hastings for the annual Christmas tree lighting at the James Harmon Community Center.

Moved from the V.T.W. Park where the village tree grows due to the inclement weather, more than 200 people enjoyed an old-time electric train display, music on keyboard by Robert Linder and the Hudson Valley Singers and a visit from Santa Claus (Police Lt. David Dosin).

Hastings Mayor Peter Swiderski did the honors by lighting the indoor tree which was set up by the Hastings Recreation Department with the event co-sponsored by the Hastings Fire Department and V.F.W. Post 200 where the outdoor tree as lighted simultaneously.

Members of the V.F.W. served hot chocolate and other refreshments to the crowd that filled the Community Center.
