Main Street and Warburton Avenue were turned into film sets as several scenes, including a holiday parade, were filmed throughout the day. The filming is also scheduled for all day Tuesday.

Villagers removed all of their cars from the streets before 8 a.m. when set design and preparations began and Hastings Police and other personnel were on traffic control duty. The pilot for the planned series was co-written by Damon Lindelof ("Lost," "Star Trek") and Tom Perrotta ("Election," "Little Children") and based on Perrotta's novel about the aftermath of a rapture-like event in a suburban town. Peter Berg ("Friday Night Lights") is directing to project's pilot. Hastings' Karl “Corky” Soderstrom and his classic red Chevrolet convertible played a featured part in the parade scene. Producers spotted Soderstrom's treasured automobile during the village's Memorial Day Parade in May and "cast" it for the pilot. "There's a lot of waiting around, but it's fun to be a part of it," Soderstrom said as he waited for filming to begin. "And it's going to be a hot one (weather) today." The Hastings Laundromat, The River Roadhouse tavern and the Spring Street area will serve as venues for the shoot. Spring Street will be closed Tuesday for a stunt car accident. The streets and municipal parking lots will be closed to vehicular traffic and parking, but sidewalks will be open to pedestrians. Most local businesses will remain open both days.
