Residents stroll by and motorists stop and jump out of their cars to purchase, fruits vegetables, flowers, soaps and pickles at the makeshift market that is a reminder of street markets all over the world.

"I'm just getting some flowers for a  friend and I saw the market driving through on the way to Hastings," Tarrytown's Mario Pasquale said. "I come by here every day and didn't know this market was here on Friday."

Jordan DeJong and his partner Sean Jones, two former high school friends from Mount Kisco, sell their organic "Hope Soaps" at the Friday market.

"It's a nice place to get out the word and sell on our product," DeJong said. "We're here on Fridays and we're going to be doing the Hastings Farmers Market on Saturdays next month."

Nick Fanelli, a guitar maker whose shop is acroas the street from the market, said he likes seeing the Friday action in the quiet village.

"It's nice to see people coming in and shopping," Fanelli said. "I go by there Fridays and see what they have going on."

The Dobbs Ferry Street Market is just a block from where Cedar Street meets Main Street, several blocks from Route 9.
