Dobbs Ferry Holiday Hustle 5K Race A Chilly Success

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- Cold weather and snow-lined roads could did not deter more than 100 brave runners who competed in the Dobbs Ferry Youth Services Holiday Hustle 5-Kilometer and Reindeer Run on Sunday, Dec. 15.

The Youth Services Council-sponsored event went off as scheduled despite Saturday's snow with adults running the 5K and children taking on the Reindeer Run.

According to event organizer Matt Arone, Dobbs Ferry Recreation Department Superintendent, the weather may have kept the numbers down but did not dampen the spirits as the runners helped raise funds for the Youth Services Committee to support a holiday gift drive for local children and families.

"The weather kept a few people away, but we still had a great turnout and everybody who participated commented on what a great time they had," Arone said.

The overall winners of the 5K race were Perry King of Dobbs Ferry (male) and Keely Cheslack-Postava (female) from Hastings.

The winner of the kid’s Reindeer Run was Robert Sanzo of Dobbs Ferry.
