DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. Families and restaurants in Dobbs Ferry will be coming together to benefit local schools in the village next week. The Dobbs Ferry PTSA, along with the Schools Foundation and the Downtown Improvement Committee has organized the sixth School Night Out.
Its really nice for families and people to get out and eat because everybody has really hectic schedules with their kids, said Dobbs Ferry PTSA treasurer Teresa Walsh. So this is a night people can get out with their kids.
Money raised from the School Night Out will be donated to the Dobbs Ferry school district and its science labs, which are currently under construction in the high school.
[The restaurants] donate 10 percent of their full price dinners and this year its going to the science labs, Walsh said. Were giving money to the school district and theyll go from there.
The event will be held Tuesday Oct. 25 and diners merely need to bring slips to the restaurant of their choice stating that theyre there for School Night Out. If you dont have a slip of your own though, theres no need to worry.
If you go in and say were from School Night Out at one of these 10 restaurants, then theyll honor that, Walsh said. Absolutely there will be extra slips there in the restaurants.
Participating restaurants include Cedar Street Grill, Dobbs Diner, Doubledays, Harpers, Lemon Tree, Off Broadway, Orissa, Sams Italian Restaurant, Sushi Ninja and Tomatillo.
Even if youre too busy to stop in and sit down for dinner, Walsh said restaurants will honor the donation for take our orders as well.
The downtown improvement committee just thought that we should help the restaurants and the businesses in the community, Walsh said of the fundraiser. We picked Tuesday because its probably an off night for the restaurants.
