Family Of Fallen Yonkers Hero Makes Good On Service Project

Fiona Fahy, the widow of FDNY battalion chief Michael Fahy, is using any monies raised to assist her family following his death on Sept. 27 to help build smart homes for wounded soldiers, according to multiple media sources.

Two men have been charged with felony marijuana possession and assault in the ongoing investigation associated with the Yonkers resident and North Rockland High School graduate's death.

The idea to use the money came to her after watching a documentary with Fahy just the week before he was killed after being hit in the head by part of the roof when a Bronx drug house exploded, said the New York Post.

The documentary, “For the Love of Their Brother,” tells the story of Firefighter Stephen Siller, who died in the Twin Towers on 9/11 and whose heroic action on that day inspired the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Fiona Fahy said during a recent news conference at her late husband's fire station, that at the end of the show, he said the organization should be the family's service project, the Post reported.

Following Fahy’s death, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation contacted Fiona Fahy saying they wanted to help, the Post said.

But she told the foundation she wanted to "pay it forward" and instead wanted to use the money to help build homes for injured U.S. soldiers, added the New York Post.
