HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Dr. Stacey Joy Hershman dreamed about being a veterinarian since she was five-years old. Taking care of sick or wounded animals came naturally, so its no wonder that her veterinary practice, Natural Vet for Pets, specializes in homeopathic healing.
Ive loved animals my whole life and I was determined to become a vet, said Herschman, who established her Hastings practice in 2007. My lifes work in all about loving and caring for animals.
Dr. Hershman is a recognized expert in the field of homeopathic veterinary medicine. She practices homeopathy in her veterinary practice and uses homeopathic remedies and nutritional therapy to treat animals holistically rather than use conventional treatments that mask symptoms.
Many animals are over-vaccinated and over-medicated, Hershman said. Acupuncture for dogs and cats helps stimulate the immune system of weakened animals. Acupuncture works well to alleviate pain in dogs with slipped discs, paralysis, pre- and post-op hip and knee surgery and arthritis. Electro acupuncture is also available."
Hershman, whose staff includes Linda Eckloff, Allison Jorseth and Christian Moreno, said both acupuncture and homeopathy are natural alternatives which have no negative side effects like cortisone and other conventional drugs. Vet for Pets also shelters homeless pets and helps find foster and adoptive homes for the animals.
Her current close companions are a sweet pit bull named Gumby, who follows her around the offices, and his pal Pearl, a mix. Gumby and his sister were thrown from a car, picked up and saved, Hershman said. Hes a little needy, but a wonderful dog. Weve used acupuncture to help his arthritis and he is doing very well. But hes mine and not up for adoption. We do have several cats, dogs and a rabbit that need homes.
Natural Vet for Pets is located at 585 Warburton Avenue. The office can be reached by telephone at 478-4100 or at email@example.com. Log on the website at www.naturalvetforpets.com.
