“The album took nine months to make,” Draper said. “In a way, it’s my baby.”

Draper said her earliest musical memories are of dancing around the room with her father on the piano. Draper's father Frederick Draper is a classical guitar virtuoso who studied with Andres Segovia, but Draper says she listened to everything from Bach to “Bop” from an early age. She sang in the  church choir and began writing her own songs on the guitar as a teen.

“With this album, I feel I’ve come full circle,” Draper said. “I feel myself returning to the roots that originally sparked my enthusiasm for music.”

Produced by fellow singer-songwriter Matt Keating, "Edgewise" features the newly-released video of Draper's favorite cut "Hollow", which was filmed on the shore in Montauk, Long Island and directed by husband Jason Yantz and Ken Edge.

Draper says "Hollow" relates to taking risks in life and a conversation she overheard on an airplane, in which a woman was discussing how her stepson needed to give up his goal of becoming a writer and “get it out of his system.”

“I write songs to connect and to continue, through the music. For the odd-ball, the loser and the loner that exists within us all," Draper said. "It’s a lot cheaper than therapy without any of the side-effects of medication. Someone once asked me if music is what I do for a living, and I responded, 'No, but it’s what I do for my life.'”

Draper Will preview her album live Saturday at The Spotty Dog Books & Ale in upstate Hudson at 8 p.m. where she will share the stage with Kath Bloom. Her Record Release Show will be held The Bitter End in New York City on May 23 at 7:30 p.m.

"Edgewise" is available for purchase on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and on Draper's website.
