HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- There are several choices for places to go to for lunch in downtown Hastings, but some have been giving locals an option for decades.
Ralph Hoellger owns the Manor Market Delicatessen in Hastings and has been there for more than 30 years. The deli has been in Hastings since 1977 and Hoellger said it's his family business's roots that separate his deli from the rest.
"Well I guess [it's because] I've been here the longest," he said.
The deli is located at 570 Warburton Ave. and is within walking distance of all the other shops in downtown Hastings along with the Metro North train station. Hoellger said people who use the train are some of his most loyal customers.
"You know guys who go to work in the morning," he said. "I guess it's someplace to sit and eat before you have to catch a train."
While approximately a couple of hundred people visit the deli on a daily basis, according to Hoellger, most come for the bacon and eggs. However, Hoellger wasnt sure what makes it the best-seller.
"No idea, I guess the eggs and the bacon," he joked
While stopping in for a sandwich any time of day is encouraged at the Manor Market Delicatessen, most choose to start their day at the deli.
"They hang out and have breakfast and they go and do their daily thing," Hoellger said.
