A Preview of the Meetings in Hastings This Week

There will be plenty to talk about in Hastings this week as the Board of Trustees and the Planning Board are both scheduled to meet.

The Hastings Board of Trustees will be meeting Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building to discuss a number of issues in the village. During the public hearing session the board will be discussing two new proposed laws in Hastings. One proposed local law would create a taxi only parking zone on Main Street at various points. The proposed law would allow only taxis to park on the north side of Main Street 70 feet east of the entrance to 87 Main St. all the way east for 66 feet.

The second proposed law would prohibit parking on Williams Street from Aqueduct Lane to Warburton Avenue on Thursdays from 9 a.m.-10 a.m.

After the public hearing the Board of Trustees will vote on a resolution for the adoption of the Comprehensive Plan in Hastings. The board will also discuss resolutions to an adoption of another local law, which would increase fines for certain parking and traffic violations, the approval of more crosswalks in Hastings and an approval for the collective bargaining agreement with local Teamsters.

The village manager will also give his report towards the end of the meeting. For the full agenda visit the official village website .

The Hastings Planning Board will be meeting Thursday at 8:15 p.m. in the Municipal Building. Some of the new issues being discussed at the public hearing include applications for home additions, realigning property lines and an application by T-Mobile Northeast LLC for the addition of wireless antennas on the roof of an existing building on Saw Mill River Road. The board will also discuss amendments to Steep Slope laws of the village, which were proposed by board member Kathy Sullivan.

Another item on the agenda is the possible creation of a new panel/committee to consider exempting cases from the full Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals actions if they meet certain requirements. The full agenda for the Planning Board meeting can be found here .
