DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. There were several incidents at the Childrens Village in Dobbs Ferry this week that police are continuing to investigate including alleged assaults and even a burglary.
Breaking Up a Fight A 45-year-old Childrens Village male staff member was slapped in the back of the head after breaking up a fight between two students on April 2. Police said the fight broke out around 10 a.m. and one student was kicking the other in the genitals before the staff member stepped in. Police are still investigating the incident.
Menacing at Childrens Village Police said a 17-year-old male student at Childrens Village blocked off a classroom door and began knocking chairs and desks over in the direction of a 50-year-old female teacher in a menacing manner. The incident occurred on April 3 just after 2 p.m. in a Childrens Village classroom. Police said the same student was arrested and charged with harassment for a similar incident in August 2011. Police are still investigating the incident.
Teacher Student Altercation An 18-year-old male student at Childrens Village was allegedly involved in an incident with a 46-year-old female teacher. According to police the student pulled a chair out from under the teacher on April 4 sometime between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. and the teacher fell and injured her right shoulder. Police said she reported substantial pain and was transported to Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville. Police are still investigating the incident.
Burglary at Childrens Village Police said there was a burglary at Childrens Village sometime between April 5 at 9 p.m. and April 6 at 2:30 p.m. Police said the rear door of the Bethune High School was forced open and someone then forced three office doors opened. The offices were ransacked, but police are still unsure of what was taken. Video security tapes will be reviewed as police continue to investigate the incident.
