ARDSLEY, N.Y. -- Village of Ardsley Manager George Calvi announced Friday that work on winter-worn sections of roadway in the village would be undergoing milling and resurfacing beginning Thursday, August 21.

"I am pleased to advise (the community that the project to repair Ashford Avenue and Heatherdell Road, two streets that suffered immensely during last year's winter, is imminent," Calvi said in an e-mail message. "Eight work days may be required, including Saturday, August 23, and the goal is to have everything completed before school commences on Tuesday, September 2. Of course, the schedule is entirely dependent on the weather."

Calvi said the last two weeks of August have been specifically chosen because many residents are away enjoying their last days of summer before the school year begins, and traffic is expected to be lighter than normal.

"For those of who remain in town, I must emphasize the project will generate noise;  it will generate dust; and it will generate temporary traffic backups or delays," Calvi said. "I ask you to please indulge the work crews with your patience as they attempt to undo what Mother Nature bestowed upon us last winter. The end result should be well worth the effort."

Those with questions about the scheduling may contact the village Highway Department at 914-693-0117 and ask for Highway Foreman Rick Thompson or Deputy Highway Foreman Patrick Lindsay.
