Ashford Avenue Bridge Repairs To Start Wednesday

ARDSLEY, N.Y. – Crews will begin working Wednesday to make temporary repairs to the Ashford Avenue Bridge in Ardsley. The repairs come after slabs of concrete fell from the bridge this summer.

The work is expected to last for several weeks, officials said in an email, and will be done from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ardsley Village Manager Geroge Calvi called the repairs “Band-Aid measures” in an email sent to the village and said the repairs will cause periodic lane closures on the bridge, as well as detours on the Saw Mill Parkway and New York State Thruway.

“What you need to focus on right now is that Wednesday morning there could be a single lane closure on the bridge, and you should plan your trips to Dobbs Ferry and points west accordingly,” Calvi said in the email. “In other words build in more time or seek alternate routes. Thank you in advance for indulging the construction workers with your patience.”

Officials from Dobbs Ferry said the police department will help direct traffic on the Dobbs Ferry side of the bridge during repairs and advised residents to use alternate routes when possible.
