DiCaprio Shoots 'Wolf Of Wall Street' In Ardsley

ARDSLEY, N.Y. – Ardsley resident Andrea Schwartz took time out of her Friday afternoon to watch film crews setting up scenes for Martin Scorsese's latest film “The Wolf of Wall Street” in downtown Ardsley.

Schwartz knew stars such as Leonardi DiCaprio were scheduled to begin shooting outside in a few hours, but she said she wasn't going to stick around.

“If I thought for sure I'd be able to see the stars, I would stay,” she said. “But it won't happen.”

More than 100 people gathered behind barricades in downtown Ardsley to catch a behind-the-scenes look at the film shoot.

Police were stationed on Route 9A between Ashford Avenue and Center Street, where periodic road closures are planned to accommodate outdoor filming around 6:30 p.m.

The downtown area had been mostly quiet throughout the day, as the film shoot was postponed until further in the day. Ardsley residents started milling around when film crews began setting up and parking 1980s cars on the street.

Ardsley officials said traffic would be periodically detoured from the area to Ashford Avenue east, Legion Drive north and Heatherdell Road west.

Ardsley residents Anju Sanchala and Zarah Shabir, both 16, were among the many teenagers who stopped by the film set for some stargazing. They said they really wanted to see DiCaprio.

“It's something exciting for once,” Shabir said.

Schwartz had come downtown for the same reason.

“Ardsley's such a quiet, little sleepy town that when we heard about this excitement, we'd figure we'd come and check it out,” she said.
