DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. Former New York City Police Officer Richard DiGuglielmo, who was convicted of depraved indifference murder for shooting and killing a man outside of his family deli, was the topic of a recent CNN documentary. CNN Presents interviewed DiGuglielmo, his parents, witnesses and several others for its piece titled Twisted Justice . The documentary focuses on the case that has spanned 15 years since the original incident.
DiGuglielmo was found guilty of having shot Charles Campbell, who was wielding a bat and fighting with DiGuglielmos father over a parking spot, three times in the Venice Delicatessen parking lot in October 1996.
DiGuglielmo served 11 years in prison but was released in 2008 when his case was overturned after an appeal. Just 20 months later, though, the court reversed the decision and sent him back to prison in 2010. DiGuglielmo is currently in prison serving the remainder of his 20-years-to-life sentence.
