DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- The Dobbs Ferry Board of Education will host a work session on April 4 to discuss the minimum distance for transporting students to and from the Springhurst Elementary School.
The board is considering changing the minimum distance and is asking residents for input in a meeting with members of the Board and school district administrators.
Springhurst kindergarten through fifth grade bus pick-up and drop-off currently has no mileage restrictions and grades 6-12 has a two-mile minimum. The Board will be considering a new policy for the lower grades at Springhurst.
The district's Transportation Supervisor will also be on hand to present information and answer questions. The meeting will be held in the Dobbs Ferry High School/Middle School Library Presentation Room at 7 p.m.
Rivertowns Private School Transportation Requests Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, Hastings-on-Hudson and Ardsley parents who are considering sending a child to a private school for the next year must submit requests for bus transportation by Monday, April 1 in order to be included in the district’s request for transportation next year.
To be eligible, children must be at least 5 years old and attend school within 15 miles of their home.
Requests should be made to the Transportation Director at 914-693-6300 ext. 2208. A request must be submitted for each child and for each school being considered. The Dobbs Ferry School Board has established a firm policy of not considering requests submitted after the deadline.
