Dobbs Ferry Cops Arrest Man on Marijuana Charge

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Daniel Silverman, a 19-year-old Cortlandt Manor resident, was arrested on Dec. 22 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana according to police.  Police said Silverman was pulled over by patrol officers on Deerfoot Lane after 1 a.m.  Police said the officers had reason to believe there were drugs in the car and after a short investigation they found a small quantity of marijuana along with a clear plastic baggie.  Silverman was arrested and brought to headquarters before being processed and released. 

An 18-year-old female resident student at St. Christopher’s had her iPod touch stolen out her of pocket book around 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 23 according to police.  Police said the girl left her pocket book unattended in the gymnasium when it was stolen. The iPod touch is valued at $185 according to police.      

Police said a Beacon Hill resident reported that between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Dec. 21 someone had entered their home and stole several items.  Police said a Panasonic radio, a Canon digital camera, an HP laptop and a checkbook were taken out of a filing cabinet, which had been knocked down and pried open.  The total value of these items was $1,300 according to police.  The matter is still under investigation.

A 2006 Ford van parked on Ashford Ave was entered and rifled through by an unknown person sometime between 5 p.m. on Dec. 21and 7 a.m. on Dec. 22 according to police.  Police said the vehicle was unlocked and the only thing stolen was a spare key to the vehicle. 

Police said that sometime between 9 a.m. on Dec. 12 and 4 p.m. on Dec. 16 a church on Broadway had $350 in cash and currency stolen from a collection container.  Police said the money was in a plastic bucket, which was on the floor in the congregation area.  Police are still investigating the matter.
