?The focus of the workshops, which are scheduled for the next two Saturdays, will be on using  family memories as a jumping off point for creative writing.

Workshops will include projects via warm-up exercises, exploratory discussions, short quiet time for writing and one-on-one feedback with the instructor, Deborah Batterman.

Batterman, a writer, essayist and teaching artist, has taught workshops and programs throughout Westchester County. She is the author of “Shoes, Hair, Nails,” a short story collection, and her work has appeared in anthologies, print and on-line journals. The Creative Arts Workshop has been made possible by the Arts Alive Project Grants with funds from the Decentralization Program (DEC), a program of the  New York State Council on the Arts and administered by ArtsWestchester. No previous writing experience is necessary and those interested may sign up for any or all of  the four workshops. For more information or to register for the workshops, call 914-693-6614, email to  dobref@wlsmail.org, or sign up in person at the Dobbs Ferry Library's circulation desk.
