Dobbs Ferry Police Reports: Assault Arrests

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Four resident students of Children’s Village were arrested and charged with third degree assault in the third degree following a fight late last month.

Police said a 15-year-old male student was in the bathroom with a friend just before 10 a.m. when four other residents walked in, locked the door and began punching him for several minutes.  Two of the suspects are 14-year-old males and the others are a 16-year-old male and an 18-year old male.  The victim suffered bruising and swelling to the right eye and was treated by staff, according to police. The four were charged with a misdemeanor,

Shoplifting on Main Street - Elsa Morales, a 53-year-old woman from Providence, R.I., was arrested and charged with petit larceny after police said she shoplifted from Stop & Shop on Main Street.  Police said an employee saw Morales put various items in her bag and walk out with paying just after 4 p.m. on March 29.  Police said Morales took hair care products, aspirin and baby formula and the value of the merchandise was $49.68.  An employee stopped Morales in front of the store, police said, and she was later arrested and released on her own recognizance.

Order of Protection Violation- Christopher Basile, a 49-year-old Brooklyn resident, was arrested after police said he violated an order of protection against his ex-wife by emailing her several times.  Police said he was charged with second degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor. Basile was released on $50,000 bail after police picked him up at his Brooklyn home.  Police said Basile began sending his ex-wife emails on March 13 after a temporary order of protection had been filed.

Stolen Bicycle Arrest- A 16-year-old resident of Children’s Village was arrested and charged with fifth degree possession of stolen property after police said he took a bicycle from the Masters School on April 1.  Police said a 50-year-old Masters School resident, who owns the red and silver Schwinn, saw the boy riding off with the bike around 11 a.m. and reported it to police, who stopped the suspect on Dassern Drive.

Harassment at Children’s Village- Police are investigating a case of physical harassment at Children’s Village on the night of March 27.  Police said a 40-year-old staff member was getting a 16-year-old male student ready for bed when the man said the student became disruptive and punched him in the right side of the face.  There was no visible injury, police said, but they are still looking into the case.

Harassment at Mercy College- Police are investigating a harassment complaint from a 22-year-old male at Mercy College. Police said the victim said he was pushed by a 35-year-old man from the Bronx after a verbal argument in the school’s cafeteria.  Police said the victim was sitting with his 20-year-old girlfriend, who was formerly employed by the suspect. The suspect was arguing with the victim’s girlfriend when the victim stepped in, according to police.

Stolen Wallet- The black leather wallet of a 31-year-old Dobbs Ferry man may have been stolen after he left it in a Main Street laundromat.  Police said the man put the  wallet on the counter on March 30 between 7:30 and 8 a.m. and when he returned to look it was gone.
