DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- Dobbs Ferry Recreation Department Superintendent Matt Arone received the Joseph E. Curtis Achievement Award June 13 at the Westchester Recreation & Park Society's annual awards and scholarship luncheon at Shenorock Shore Club in Rye.

The award is given annually to a Westchester County recreation professional who has completed a major service project or other accomplishment in the recreation field during the past year.

Arone, an executive member on the WRAPS board, was given the task of revitalizing the society's fundraising and social committee.

During the past year, he hosted two “Poker Run” fundraising events in White Plains, a NCAA March Madness Tournament fundraiser and a family bowling and dinner night that brought in more than $3,300 for the society.

The award is named in honor of the late Joseph Curtis, a former commissioner in both White Plains and New Rochelle and a former president of WRAPS .
