DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. As the rain held off throughout Sunday afternoon, many local residents flocked to the Dobbs Ferry waterfront to grill, relax and have some lunch for Fathers Day.
He wanted a picnic for Fathers Day that was his one request, said Ardsley resident Stephanie Goodman of her husband Rob. This is definitely the prettiest place around to have a picnic.
Waterfront Park had people from all over setting up shop for the afternoon and bringing the kids out to enjoy the day off.
This is our first time down here so we figured lets do that for Fathers Day, said New York City resident Jeff Zaretsky. This is like going camping in the country for the kids, but theyre just playing in the playground right now.
With corn grilling just a few feet back from the waterfront, two fathers sat in their lawn chairs waiting for the first course of their holiday lunch.
About once a year well do a picnic down here, said New York City resident Ian Birla.
Birlas wife, Nita, sat beside him and took in the views while their daughter Shayli took advantage of the playground.
Its so quiet and peaceful, a little different from the city and the views too, she said.
Even with a bit of construction at the other end of the park as a new dock is constructed, most people seemed unfazed by it while enjoying one of the premiere Rivertowns attractions.
Its a great setup, Zaretsky said.
