HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. Fleet Week will be celebrated in Hastings as part of the annual Memorial Day parade as 61 Marines and sailors along with 20 cadets join in the festivities Sunday. Rear Admiral Townsend Alexander will lead the parade, which starts at 2 p.m.
The Fire Department requested a naval contingent and the Defense Department was kind enough to oblige, Hastings Mayor Peter Swiderski said in a message to residents. This is a first in decades (if ever) that such a contingent has shown up here in town. Its now up to us to provide a warm welcome.
The parade will start near Reynolds Field and head down Main Street, down Warburton Avenue and through town. There will be fire engines and a float from a New York City parade, as well as bands, firemen, clubs and others.
