HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - While the local communities continue to recover from Hurricane Sandy, the Project Share program was out at the Hastings Farmer's Market Saturday to raise money for its 23rd Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for  the Homeless.

Since 1989, the Tuesday before Thanksgiving has meant a warm and wonderful turkey dinner  for some of the region's homeless. The event is sponsored, paid for and hosted by Project Share and has grown from 125 guests in 1989 to more than 300 men, women and children from New York City and Westchester County each Thanksgiving.

The dinner is at Hastings High School, whose students volunteer as servers. It also features basketball, games, arts and crafts and a clown for entertainment.

Donors can seat a guest for $25 or a table of 10 guests for $250. Donations are made payable to Share the Project, Inc., and can be mailed to 161 Broadway, Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, 10706. The group also is taking donations to aid victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Contributions also may be made Saturday at the Hastings Farmers' Market at the Village Hall parking lot or by visiting the Share the Project website at sharingtheproject.wordpress.com.
