Hastings Woman Reports Theft of $89K From Accounts

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – A local woman reported to police on Feb. 27 that she had been the victim of identity theft and that tens of thousands of dollars had been fraudulently withdrawn from her Yonkers bank accounts.

The 53-year-old Hastings woman reported to Hastings police that that someone had withdrawn approximately $89,000 from her two bank accounts without her knowledge. Police said that an unknown person made a withdrawal from each account on Feb. 13 and again on Feb. 17. Police referred the woman to the proper authorities to investigate the theft.

Domestic Dispute- A 17-year-old Hastings male was arrested and charged with strangulation in the second degree, a class D felony, after an alleged altercation with his mother on Feb. 28. Police said the son choked his 53-year-old mother with a wallet chain while no one else was home. The mother reported the incident at the emergency room just before 7 p.m. where she had “visible impressions” of the chain around her neck. The son was arrested later that night and was also charged with assault in the second degree, a class D felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor, police said. He was released and his case is pending in court.
