Irvington Apartment Owner Penalized For Discrimination

IRVINGTON, N.Y. -- An apartment complex owner in Irvington has agreed to pay thousands in fines and penalties after he was found to be discriminating against potential African-American renters, according to LoHud.com

Rosario Macri owned the complex located on 123 S. Broadway. He was sued on Monday, Dec. 2. after he was found quoting African-Americans higher rent prices, asking for larger security deposits and failing to provide them with rental applications, LoHud.com reported. 

Macri agreed to pay $92,000 in fines. $60,000 will go into an escrow account for victims of his discrimination. The remaining $32,000 is a penalty paid to the government, according to LoHud.com.
