DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. Before the Giants can potentially punch their ticket to the Super Bowl, locals are gearing up for the showdown against the 49ers in the NFC Championship game on Sunday.
Last weekend it was a great win obviously, place was packed and a lot of people were excited, there was just a lot of energy, said Eric Pomeroy, who has been a bartender at Doubledays for the past three years. Just from talking to people in the last week about the game I think well have another great night.
Pomeroy said anytime the Giants or Jets are in the playoffs is great for business as residents filter in to watch the games.
People are just going crazy, its a great atmosphere, he said. This time of year is great though, a lot of Jets and Giant fans so it helps.
With the Giants looking to clinch their second trip to the Super Bowl since 2007, crowds are expected to be steady at the local bars.
We always have a good Sunday, the brunch crowd falls into the football so it should be good, said Sean Crimmins, who has been a bartender at the Celtic Corner for the past year. Its a Giants town.
Pomeroy said the crowd will undoubtedly be pro Giants as he feels the fan base is just bigger than that of the Jets.
Jets fans would probably agree, but they wouldnt say it openly, he said.
There are sure to be deals throughout the villages Sunday as the Celtic Corner and Doubledays will both be having all you can eat and drink buffets for $40 during the game.
When asked for predictions, both Pomeroy and Crimmins said they expect a close, hard fought Giants victory.
Im going to give you a little Swami Sez, Pomeroy said. Im going to say Giants 27-21.
