Up Next at Rivertowns Square: Environmental Review

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The upcoming timeline for the review of the Rivertowns Square project was laid out at the Dobbs Ferry Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday night.

“We have an obligation now as a board,” said Dobbs Ferry Mayor Hartley Connett.

The board received the preliminary Final Environmental Impact Statement for the project on Tuesday, which is a large document the board will comb through to determine its completeness.

“We’re at that stage now where we have a document that’s preliminary," said Dwight Douglas, the village’s consultant planner.

Once the document is considered “accurate and adequate” by the board, the FEIS will become available to the public.  Douglas recommended that the board hold three work sessions, which are open to the public, to review the document.

The first meeting would focus on traffic, then soils, noise and environmental conditions and the third meeting would focus on socioeconomic and zoning issues.

After approving the FEIS document’s completeness, the board of trustees will be required to issue an environmental findings statement that address any other concerns with the project.

Once the finding statement is given, it will begin the process for the planning, architectural and other boards in the village to approve the project before it comes back for final site approval at some point.
