Police Continue Search, Locals React on Facebook

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Police continue to search for three men who posed as police officers to gain entry into a local man’s home on Tuesday morning.

Hastings Lt. David Dosin said there are no new details or updates available on the home invasion, but he advised locals who may have seen anything to reach out.

“If anybody has any information they can please call us at 478-2344,” he said.

The three armed suspects tied up the man and his family before stealing an undisclosed sum of money from the home.  The men fled the scene and police have been canvassing the area and following up on different leads since then.

The incident has left some residents shocked, others shaken and many generally uneasy with the incident happening so close to home.  Some local residents have begun to post their reactions to Tuesday’s home invasion on our Facebook page.

“[It’s] very scary and it makes me wonder how safe we actually are in the burbs as opposed to the city,” said Jordana Kremnitzer on Tuesday night.

Comments on the story have run the spectrum of emotions, but some said the incident is most likely an exception and not part of a trend.

“No, I am not worried,” said Madge Scott when prompted on Facebook.  “That was probably planned.”

Neil Lavey left a comment on our page and said the incident is a “sign of the times” and many have been telling their neighbors to simply be careful.

“People are crazy and desperate,” said Yvonne Excell on Wednesday afternoon.  “You never know.  Be aware of your surroundings and take as much precaution as possible.”
