ARDSLEY, N.Y. – Hastings, Dobbs Ferry and Ardsley are urging residents to prepare for the arrival of Hurricane Sandy early next week.

“Hurricane Sandy is still a long way away, and the storm’s path could change, but it is not too late to be prepared just in case,” a Dobbs Ferry alert read . “The Dobbs Ferry Police, Public Safety, and DPW Departments are fully prepared and we will keep everyone informed as best we can on any new developments or emergency notifications as may be required (hopefully not).”

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for next week as Hurricane Sandy moves away from the Bahamas and parallels the East Coast this weekend. Sandy is expected to directly hit the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast Monday, with the tri-state area seeing heavy rainfall.

Dobbs Ferry police are asking residents to remove cars from the waterfront parking lot by noon Sunday because of anticipated storm surges and flooding.

Hastings officials said preparation for Hurricane Sandy already had begun and the village's emergency management team met to discuss storm impacts. All villages are advising residents to bring in outdoor furniture and check that storm water catch basins and curbs are cleared of leaves and debris.
